In the fall of 2006, Gaye was awarded "Master Pastellist" Designation by the Pastel Artists of Canada", one of only six Canadian Artists to have received this honour.

In July 2007, Gaye received an Award of Distinction in the National Exhibition of the Pastel Artists of Canada.
