July 2,3 and July 8,9
Class limit: 12
I will be drawing on over 15 years of plein air experience and teachings from some amazing mentors to present you with a solid and workable approach to working on location.
We will be starting with planning a painting on location with a value study and then working into color composition and finished field sketches.
Color mixing, design, logistics for outdoor painting and all other practical and artistic considerations will be included in the content of this workshop. Weather permitting, the entire class will be conducted in the field at various locations around the Langley/Surrey area. If there is inclement weather, an indoor facility or alternate date will be arranged.
It is my hope that students will take the five days in between the two weekend sessions to practice the learning a bring some sketches in for critique and feedback during the second weekend.
Plein air painting is a great adventure and also a tremendous tool for accelerating painting skills. It will sharpen your focus and teach you to edit visual information in order to create strong design and compelling paintings.
Media: Oils, water mixable oils

This ten day workshop will take place on the stunningly beautful island of Korcula. It is all inclusive from Dubrovnik, Croatia. We will land in Dubrovnik, overnight in Cavtat, and then take a short but beautiful drive up the coast to catch the ferry across to Korcula. We will paint each day in a differeny location, being tansported either by private air-conditioned bus or water taxi to small villages and islands in and around Korcula. Home base will be Lumbarda, Korcula... a small and picturesque village on the island where we will relax at the end of each painting day with a glass of wine, great food, and good company.
Gaye wil be coaching oil painters and pastellists.
Please feel free to email me with any additional questions. This is gonna be fun.
